WORKFORCE
Workforce Development
GBRIA is dedicated to helping members manage their
contract workforce. The processes involved to provide an
available, affordable world class competitive workforce
are numerous. Check out our Contractor Workforce
Development Committee to get involved. Through GBRIA,
industry members provide input and steering to the
Associated Builders and Contractors Craft Training
Center, the Safety Council of the LA Capital area and to
other similar associations across the nation. Below are
the tools available to help plants manage their contract
workforce.
Craft Contractor Workforce Development Awards
- these awards, new in 2007 are offered to help
improve skills and promote best practices for craft
workforce development in the region.
Craft Skills Assessments and Training
– GBRIA supports the
use of the National Center for Construction Education
and Research (NCCER) skills assessments and training
programs delivered through the
Associated Builders
and Contractors Pelican Chapter. A joint GBRIA/ABC
Taskforce meets quarterly to provide input and steering
to the school.
Certified Craftsperson Definition –
GBRIA and
ABC's Pelican Chapter developed a certified craftsperson
definition for the GBR area which the association
encourages all owners and industrial contractors to
adopt.
Contractor Pre-Qualification –
Several
pre-qualification tools exist across the Gulf Coast, see
the link for more information on many of them.
Contractor Process Safety Management Audits
– GBRIA has provided contractor audits
that plants share since 1996. Let us help you streamline
and lower your cost of doing audits.
Conractor Safety Training – the Safety Council of the LA
Capital Area delivers safety training for GBRIA members
to prepare contract workers to enter industrial sites
and is accepted by all plants in the Greater Baton Rouge
area as well as many other plants in the nation.
Site Specific Orientations –the
Safety Council also delivers Site-Specific orientation
for contractors. See which plants conduct theirs through
the Safety Council.
Criminal Background Screens –the Security Passport program
offers a portable screen and is accepted by many plants
in the Greater Baton Rouge area.
