Safety, Health, & Security

Connie Fabre, GBRIA signs OSHA Alliance Agreement with Dorinda Folse, OSHA Area Director and Ed Flynn, Vice President Safety and Health, Louisiana Chemical Association, 2018

GBRIA has a long history of helping plants and contractors improve safety performance. Our goal is to provide a forum for members to find solutions to common safety, health, and security challenges. GBRIA offers several programs to support these efforts:

Safety, Health & Security Committee

The SHS Committee meets monthly, typically on the second Tuesday of each month from 8:00 a.m. – 10:00 a.m., at the GBRIA office and is led by GBRIA Board of Directors' members.  Participants on the committee are usually safety management representatives from member sites.  The committee covers many topics, has developed best practice guidelines and continues to seek improvements in safety. Please contact Brandon Smith, Manager of Safety, Health & Security of GBRIA, if you would like to join the committee.

Quarterly SHS Networking & Technology Exchange Meetings

In addition to the committee meetings, a quarterly SHS Technology Exchange meeting is held with lunch served. The topics of these meetings are generally derived from the results of our Quarterly Incident & Illness Survey. Committee members volunteer to present their approach to the topic on hand, with open dialogue amongst members.

Contractor Safety & Health Audits/Evaluations

GBRIA, as a service to its members, facilitates a safety & health audit on contractor companies utilizing a 3rd party auditing firm. These audits serve to assist member companies with their requirement to evaluate contractor’s safety and health programs under the OSHA 1910.119 (h) regulations. The audit holds reciprocity with Houston Business Roundtable and is valid for three (3) years. The program is aimed to reduce the cost for member companies and reduce repetitive audits for contractor companies. GBRIA has 200+ audits on file. Please contact Brandon Smith, to learn more about the audit program and gain access to completed audits.
