Who We Are

The Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance (GBRIA) is a regional association representing more than 80 industrial manufacturing facilities and over 100 contractors, suppliers and service providers across southeast Louisiana.

We bring industry leaders together to address shared challenges, exchange ideas and work on issues that affect their facilities, employees and surrounding communities. Through collaboration, GBRIA helps member companies accomplish more together than they could individually.

Our Strategic Objectives

GBRIA's work is guided by six strategic objectives that reflect the priorities of our member companies. From improving workplace safety and developing a skilled workforce to strengthening community relationships, these objectives guide our programs, committees and initiatives.

Our Region

GBRIA represents industrial facilities across an 11-parish area that includes Greater Baton Rouge and the surrounding industrial corridor. Through the New Orleans Industry Alliance (NORIA), we're extending that same spirit of collaboration to the Greater New Orleans area.

Our regional reach allows companies to share resources, learn from one another and work together on issues that extend beyond individual facilities.

Our History

Since 1970, GBRIA has helped industrial companies work together to address challenges and improve the way industry operates. Over the decades, our members have developed programs, established partnerships and introduced initiatives that continue to benefit industrial facilities and their communities.

1970
GBRIA is established to bring industrial manufacturers together around shared challenges.
1984
Helps form the Louisiana Health Care Alliance.
1985–1990
Supports the development of ABC craft training facilities.
1991
Standardizes contractor safety orientation training with the Safety Council.
1996
Establishes the Contractor Safety & Health Audit Program.
1997
Launches the Contractor Safety Award Program.
1998
Helps establish the Association of Reciprocal Safety Councils (ARSC).
2004
Develops a standardized contractor security passport program.
2005
Adopts the Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance name and logo.
2007
Introduces the Contractor Workforce Development Awards.
2007–2014
Helps expand public craft training, doubling regional craft credentials.
2008
Develops resources for non-fluent English workers and zero-incident safety culture.
2010–2012
Advances hydroblasting training, craft programs and NCCER curriculum.
2013
Develops scaffold-building best practices and contributes to an NCCER textbook.
2015
Helps form CRISIS to address regional infrastructure needs.
2015–2018
Establishes the Community Awareness Emergency Response (CAER) regional network.
2017–2018
Publishes breathing-air best practices and supporting safety resources.
2018
Forms an ITEP collaboration group, expanding GBRIA's public affairs work. Learn more →

Launches the Industry Makes initiative.
2024
Begins managing the Louisiana Construction Education Foundation (LCEF).
