Journey to Industry
Hands-On Career Exploration for 10th Grade Students
2026 Date TBA • ABC New Orleans/Bayou Chapter, St. Rose, LA
Discover the Future of Louisiana Industry
Journey to Industry is a one-day, hands-on experience that connects 10th-grade students with local industrial employers, training providers, and real-world career paths.
Students rotate through interactive zones where they can try the tools, meet the people, and see firsthand what high-demand industrial careers look like.
What to Expect
Students will explore four industry zones, each designed to spark curiosity and build awareness of modern, high-tech career opportunities:
-
⚙️ Process Operations
-
🔧 Welding, Pipefitting, and Millright
-
💡 Instrumentation & Electrical
-
🧬 STEM & Safety
Each station is led by industry professionals and technical educators, giving students a chance to ask questions and imagine themselves in these roles.
Why It Matters
Louisiana’s industrial sector is one of the state’s largest employers — offering high-paying, stable careers and opportunities for growth.
Many of these careers begin with technical training after high school, not a four-year degree.
