Survey respondents identified tariffs, geopolitical tensions, regulatory changes, supply chain constraints and uncertainty in global markets among the top factors influencing their outlook. Several respondents also reported extended lead times for critical equipment and emerging concerns about the availability of skilled labor.

At the same time, manufacturers continue to invest in the region. Respondents reported major capital projects, including new plant construction, facility expansions and unit upgrades. Others described strong product demand, while some noted customers are taking a more cautious, wait-and-see approach as economic uncertainty continues.

About the Survey

GBRIA's Economic Outlook Survey is conducted quarterly to gauge near-term expectations for production, employment and capital investment among key industrial manufacturing sites in the Greater Baton Rouge region.

The GBRIA Economic Outlook Index is a forward-looking indicator modeled after The Business Roundtable CEO Economic Outlook Index. The index is calculated as a diffusion index centered on 50 and ranges from -50 to 150. Values above 50 indicate expectations for economic expansion, while values below 50 indicate expectations for economic contraction.
