Workforce Development Committee

GBRIA is dedicated to helping members develop an available, affordable, world class competitive workforce. Check out our Contractor Workforce Development Committee to get involved. Through GBRIA, industry members provide input and steering to the area’s High Schools, Community & Technical Colleges, Associated Builders and Contractors Craft Training Center, The Alliance Safety Council, Trade Schools and to other similar associations across the nation.

Craft Workforce Development Awards

Since 2007, the GBRIA Craft Workforce Development Awards has helped improve skills and promote best practices for craft workforce development in the region. Industrial Contractors who have worked at GBRIA member sites, GBRIA members plants, innovators of workforce development, area high schools and area post-secondary education institutions are all eligible and encouraged to participate in this awards program.

Craft Skills Assessment and Training

GBRIA supports the use of the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) skills assessments and training programs delivered through the Associated Builders and Contractors Pelican Chapter.

A joint GBRIA/ABC Taskforce meets quarterly to provide input and steering to the school. This taskforce provides a seamless opportunity for GBRIA owner companies to express current needs of the industry so that ABC can tailor its training offerings to supplement those needs.

GBRIA Definition of Certified Craft Person

GBRIA and ABC's Pelican Chapter developed a certified craftsperson definition for the Greater Baton Rouge Area area which the association encourages all owners and industrial contractors to adopt.
